blueMSX 2.8.1 is an emulator to run MSX programs under Windows. MSX was a home computer architecture, based in the Z80 processor, created by Microsoft in the early 80´s. This "standard" was nearly unknown in the United States or England, but was widely used in Europe and Latin America. blueMSX allows you to run programs created for that architecture through your PC, creating a virtual MSX home computer into your system. As MSX is not a brand, but an architecture, there were lots of companies producing MSX machines,, such as Talent, GoldStar, Spectravideo, Yamaha and others. There were slight differences between this home computers. This emulator can run programs made for most of them, including consoles like ColecoVision and Sega SG-1000, SC-3000, SF-7000, SVI318/328, MSX, MSX2, MSX2+, and turboR with machine customization. blueMSX has cartridge, cassettes or disks support. You can download any type of emulation from the Internet (there are thousands of MSX programs scattered on the net), and load them into the machine using any drive emulation. The emulator also includes a debugger. You can even use it to write MSX programs, that you can run or save into the emulation as if you were using a real MSX home computer.
The MSX standard had special musical characteristics. This characteristics are reproduced in this emulation. It has MSX-MIDI,MSX-MUSIC,MSX-AUDIO, SCC+ and Moonsound with oversampling control and DAC.
